Supporting the Gifted Self-Directed Learner

An intellectually gifted learner has innate outstanding ability in one or more areas. As a Centre for Learning, Dara supports gifted learners to develop a strong sense of identity and self-directed learning skills, enabling the pursuit of lifelong personal success.

The Learner at the Centre

The Dara Model for Teaching and Learning (2021) acknowledges that students bring to school their own individual learner profile. The student’s learner profile is made up of academic readiness levels, individual learning preferences and interests, and other factors that influence who each student is as a learner and how they learn. These aspects are celebrated, developed and embedded in the design of learning.
